Let’s Talk About Jeans

Ok, so confessions of a rubbish blogger. These pictures have been waiting to appear here since the beginning of time, or at least it feels that way, but my powers of organisation have failed once again. So its better late than never and I’m sticking to that!  Moving on swiftly…. the fashion. I haven’t worn jeans in a long time, especially not ripped ones! I am feeling really inspired by all the amazing pictures of people wearing boyfriend, cuffed jeans on blogs and in magazines and really wanted to give it a try. I have always felt that jeans and skinny or tapered trousers in general didn’t suit my figure but I thought for £18 I would risk it. With these I was really pleasantly surprised. I paired it with this black silky top to contrast the masculine aspects of the outfit; to play with this a little more I added this leather and tweed blazer. To add a bit of glamour for a sort of casual going out outfit, I added these kitten heels from Office. I absolutely love them! They are easy to walk in, a bonus, I think the silver toe cap adds a really cool edge too. I think they are awesome, but I am a shoe addict. I added this nude snake skin effect clutch and the scarf for a little bit of interest. I went a bit theatrical with the eyes, I used a bright blue Urban Decay eyeshadow to line them, referencing the underwater/blue trend on the s/s 13 catwalks. The reason why I really wanted to share this outfit with the world (gulp) is that, I think its important to give things a try. Even if you have always fancied that top, or that jacket, or in my case THOSE JEANS; give it a try. I am the worst person for getting into ruts with clothes, or deciding to rule out a whole group, like jeans but I am trying to be a bit more adventurous with clothes and try new things. Best thing I can say is stop thinking about it and give it a chance! It doesn’t always work and don’t I know it, but it’s really fun trying!

I was just indulging in reading some lovely blogs and I came across this. I've got to share just how amazing I think these photographs are! I think the mood of them is wonderful, dark and brooding with beautiful pops of colour. Also the styling is so timeless and classic but without even a hint of kitch. There is something very ethereal about these images but the women are so effortlessly stylish and sexy. This is something I will definitely be emulating next time I'm feeling retro, maybe not the two headed senario though.

Almost Famous-Best Burger in the Known Universe!

This saturday night I went out for dinner. Nothing unusual in itself, food is one of my favorite things but this, I felt I just had to share. I dont have any photographic evidence becuase of their strict no pictures policy. There were signs and everything! Nonetheless this place is worth a mention. I have eaten a fair few burgers in my time but nothing like this. I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt the best burger I have EVER eaten. And like I say I’ve had lots.

Almost famous is situated in the heart of the northern quarter in Manchester and its one of my favourite parts of the city. If you ever get chance to come here there are some lovely bars and restaurants and it has a different vibe to the rest of the city. Without sounding like the Manchester guidebook, its relaxed and cool with a relatively young crowd and lots of independant shops and bars. Theres only so many times I can cope with seeing the same old chains everywhere. You know?

Now some people may say they’ve had better but I dont see how this can be improved. I had a Tripple nom burger. Its 2 burgers topped with rib meat BBQ sauce and finished with their signature house sauce. It even had coleslaw on it normally I wont touch the stuff but it finished the burger to perfection. Heavenly! I also had the trailer trash fries these were a mix of normal and sweet potatoe fries with fried onions, BBQ sauce and dijon mustard. Im drooling just thinking about it. Im told that the plain version of both the fries and the burger was also to die for. Also worth a strong reccomendation are their cocktails. These are served in jam jars of varying sizes, are pritty reasonably priced and just as delicious as they look.

If your ever in town feel free to come and put my admitedly wild sounding cliams to the test. You’l be a convert! I guarantee it!  I also took a few pictures of my outfit on saturday night, it was a bit of an experiement but I think it totally worked. These will be poping up soon. Hope I haven’t made you too hungry.

A Little Trip Out

After a small delay, turns out I’m not very good at being organised-shocker, here are the photos I promised to share. This is an outfit I wore to go out for a casual dinner. As you can see I am not great at actually being casual but I am working on it. I wanted to show you this as its something of a failsafe for me-the classic pencil skirt. I think that this is something that can work for everyone and always looks great. If ever I am having a bad clothes day or don’t know what to wear, a pencil skirt always comes to the rescue! I also love the rock and roll stud detail on the sleeves of the top which stops the whole thing being too formal and ties in nicely with the accessories. Discliamer: these were our first ever outfit photos and getting these things right is a bit of a work in progress so please excuse the boring hallway and bad light.

Love these shoes. They add a little something to any outfit.

I think the addition of the red and gold accessories really lifts the outfit and stops it from being too much black. I was a little nervous about posting these pictures, but considering everything I’m relatively pleased with how they turned out. I am on a little bit of a quest at the moment to push myself in my choices of clothes and develop my style so any comments or suggestions are very welcome. Please let me know what you think.

Making My Introductions

Before I get down to the serious buisness of blogging I thought I would give you and any future readers a little bit of information about me. I’m going to follow this up with a little ethos/manifesto for this blog as well. A bit keen, I know but its important to start as you mean to go on. So here goes…. My name is Lizzie I am 24 years old and I live in central Manchester. I moved here from Rossendale on the Pennines when I was doing my degree in history at Manchester uni. I love the city and all it has to offer… Well maybe not being splashed by freezing, dirty road water at 6 o’clock in the morning but nothings perfect. I hope to talk some more about the city  later.

Just a little more on me and what i love, dont worry I wont tell you my life story! In my spare time I enjoy flamenco dancing, its a bit of an obsession! I adore fashion and am adicted to magazines. When im not doing that I am engrossed in books or blogs. Thats enough  about me, more detail coming soon!
